NEW DELHI: The UAE will not suspend Research in Motion’s BlackBerry service this month, the country’s telecommunications regulator said.
“BlackBerry services are now compliant with the UAE’s telecommunications regulatory framework,” the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said.
“All BlackBerry services in the UAE will continue to operate as normal and no suspension of service will occur,” the statement said.
The regulator did not give further details on the agreement reached with RIM.
BlackBerry's encryption technology has raised concerns among officials in countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India that police are blocked from checking electronic data for illegal activity.
