Truck rentals go up
CHENNAI: Truck rentals went up month-on-month on all trunk routes with rate increases ranging from 4% in the Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi route to 2% in Delhi-Kolkata-Delhi. According to the latest Shriram Mobility Bulletin, truck rentals have risen, fuelled by the movement of winter produce like fruits and vegetables. Cold wave across north India impacted truck movement which led to increase in rentals. “The rise in rental rates can be attributed to the arrival of winter fruits and vegetables, which has boosted the need for transportation and storage services,” said YS Chakravarti, MD & CEO, Shriram Finance. “However, the cold wave conditions prevailing in most parts of the country have adversely affected vehicle movement, causing some disruptions in the supply chain.” The logistics sector is expected to see heightened activity. Additionally, sales of two-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles have shown significant growth, reflecting increased consumer confidence and economic activity. “Overall, despite the challenges posed by the cold wave, the logistics sector is poised for a strong performance in the coming months, driven by seasonal demand and supportive economic policies,” he said.
