India’s combined goods and services exports are on track to exceed $900 billion in the ongoing financial year (2025–26), Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday, expressing optimism about trade momentum holding strong despite a challenging global environment.
Speaking to an Indian business delegation in Stockholm during his official visit to Sweden, Goyal highlighted the resilience of the country’s external trade sector in the face of prolonged geopolitical headwinds such as the Russia–Ukraine conflict, the Israel–Hamas war, and disruptions in the Red Sea region, PTI reported.
“We have crossed $825 billion exports last year. We are surely to cross $900 billion this year in all this global turmoil,” the minister said, referring to India’s record high exports achieved in 2024–25. That figure marked a jump from $778 billion in 2023–24, underscoring continued strength in both merchandise and services trade.
Goyal is in Sweden for meetings with his Swedish counterpart and with industry leaders, with a focus on advancing bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the country’s apex exporters' body, has projected that India's total exports of goods and services could grow by more than 21% year-on-year to reach the $1 trillion mark in 2025–26.
