Torrent Power to buy 51% in Dadra co

MUMBAI: Torrent Power will buy a 51% stake in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Power Distribution Corporation as it looks to strengthen its power distribution play in the country.
Torrent supplies electricity in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat in Gujarat and Agra UP and Bhiwandi in Maharashtra. “With the addition of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Torrent will distribute nearly 24 billion units of electricity per annum to over 3.85 million customers and cater a peak demand of over 5,000 MW,” said Torrent Power.
Torrent Power is part of the Rs 25,000 crore, Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group, which also has interests in pharmaceuticals and other businesses.
