Telangana clinches clean energy projects worth Rs 29,000 crore under new policy
HYDERABAD: Telangana has clinched investments worth Rs 29,000 crore from Ecoren Energy India Private Ltd and GPSR Arya Pvt Ltd under the newly launched Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025.
Ecoren Energy has identified multiple locations for wind and solar power projects worth Rs 27,000 crore in the state that will lead to a reduction of around 400 million tonnes of carbon emissions over 25 years. The company’s projects will generate around 16,200 local jobs and contribute around Rs 1600 crore by way of SGST revenues.
This includes three large scale renewable energy projects – a 3279MW wind-solar hybrid project at three locations in Sangareddy and Narayanpet districts, a 1650MWp floating solar project at seven locations in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and a 650MWp ground mounted solar project at Jogulamba Gadwal district.
On the other hand, GPSR Arya will be setting up 15 compressed biogas (CBG) projects of 15 tonnes per day capacity each at a total investment of around Rs 2000 crore through its joint venture companies with oil marketing public sector units such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).
While JV company, IOC GPS Renewables Pvt Ltd, will be setting up biogas projects in Medak, Sangareddy, Siddipet that will be supplied for city gas distribution (CGD) to Torrent Gas, IOC will be the CGD for Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla and Jagtial projects and Megha Gas will be the CGD for the projects in Khammam, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri, Wanaparthy and Mahabubnagar.
Meanwhile, BPCL-GPS Renewables Arya JV will supply biogas to Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd for Kamareddy and Nizamabad city gas distribution.
The CBG projects will use agro waste and napier grass. It is expected to have an annual utilisation of around 7.5 lakh metric tonne of surplus paddy straw. The projects are expected to create around 3000 direct jobs and result in an annual mitigation of around 17.24 lakh MT of greenhouse gases emission.
The two players inked MoUs with the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd (TGREDCO) on Wednesday in the presence of deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
