Tata Electronics ropes in chip veteran Dr Bobby Mitra to drive AI and automation
CHENNAI: Tata Electronics has roped in semiconductor industry veteran Dr Bobby Mitra as chief information officer (CIO) to drive initiatives in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. He will lead digital transformation in electronic manufacturing services, semiconductor assembly and test, foundry and design services businesses.
Bobby and his team would play a key role in advancing Tata Electronics' AI-led manufacturing initiatives, particularly in establishing India's first semiconductor fab in Dholera and the semiconductor assembly and test facility in Assam, it said in a statement.
Previously, Bobby led smart manufacturing as well as industrial systems and personal electronics systems globally for Texas Instruments and served as president and managing director of Texas Instruments India.
Bobby is the global chair of SEMI Smart Manufacturing, past chair of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and former president of the VLSI Society of India. He holds a B Tech in ECE and a PhD in computer science, both from IIT Kharagpur and an executive MBA from Texas University.
Dr Randhir Thakur, MD and CEO of Tata Electronics, said he would focus on advancing Tata Electronics' technology and manufacturing capabilities using AI and digital systems. “His deep knowledge of smart manufacturing and the digital ecosystem will be key to delivering value to our customers," he said.
