CHENNAI: B V Ramanaa, minister of commercial taxes and registration and stamp act, reviewed the performance of commercial taxes joint commissioners and deputy commissioners on Monday.
He said revenue grew 8.13% in June while it recorded a growth rate of 4.21% till June of the current financial year.
He called for focused efforts by the officials of the department to reach the revenue target.
The minister said that the large tax payers division should make special focus on completing pending back year assessment and implementing the enforcement wing proposals to increase the growth rate in the current financial year.
Scrutiny of returns and speedy implementation of the enforcement wing proposals would be given special focus, he said. Stringent action would be taken in respect of tax evaders.
He asked the territorial and enforcement wing of commercial taxes department to take coordinated action against bill traders. Strict action should be taken on beneficiary dealers availing the wrong input tax credit from bill traders.
