Sweet Karam Coffee raises $1.5 million

CHENNAI: Chennai-based destination south Indian snacking brand Sweet Karam Coffee on Monday announced raising of $1.5 million in funding from Fireside Ventures.

The company plans to utilize the funds raised for offline expansion, penetrating across new geographies and strengthening its regionalised product portfolio.

Nalini Parthiban, co-founder of Sweet Karam Coffee, said, “We wanted to revive and modernize traditional, clean food with a cultural experience by celebrating south India’s culinary legacy, taking the taste and the tales of south India across the globe."

The company has experienced a surge in growth, doubling its revenue year on year since 2020, a statement here said. The growth is mainly on the strength of its own website and app and delivers across India and in 32 countries.

The brand currently serves a range of south Indian sweets and snacks, filter coffee and ready meal mixes. It has a wide range of delicacies from Tamil Nadu and Kerala and soon plans to expand its portfolio of Karnataka and Andhra specialities, it added.
