Suzuki rejigs India EV plans
NEW DELHI: Maruti's Japanese parent Suzuki appears to be recalibrating its electric vehicles strategy in India with plans to launch four new electric cars by 2030, against an initial target of having six vehicles. The company, however, is retaining its target of having 15% contribution from electrics as it estimates a production of four million units by then.
In a mid-term management plan announced by Suzuki in Japan, the company, a late entrant to the EV space, said it remains bullish on sustainable technologies in India, highlighting opportunities in hybrids and CNG, as it eyes to reclaim the coveted 50% market share it once enjoyed (against 41.5% now).
The company, for which India is the backbone of its global operations, said it is aiming to sell electric cars within India as well as export.
Despite reducing the number of models in EVs, Suzuki said it aims to be "Number 1 in production, exports and sales" of green cars in India. It drives in its first electric in eVitara over the coming months.
Suzuki called India the "most important market" for the company, that will continue to "grow and serve as the engine" for its future growth. It added that the competitive environment in the country "is becoming increasingly severe", and thus the quality of product functions, equipment and services that customers demand needs to go up.
The Japanese car company also said it wants to strengthen its product capabilities and line-up in the SUV and MPV segments in India. The company - once seen as the maker of peoples' cars with models such as Maruti 800 - is yet not ready to write off entry-level cars. It wants to "rapidly develop and introduce entry segment products that meet the preferences of entry-model customers."
On sustainable mobility, the company said it wants to introduce battery electric vehicles, hybrids, CNG, compressed biogas powertrains, and those compatible with flex fuel (ethanol blended).

Part-1. .India has one of the Best Technology in the World to Drastically Reduce the Energy, Fuel, Heat and Carbon Emission from Automobiles, (Motor/Battery Power and Electricity for the EVs), by getting rid of their Energy Wasting Friction Brakes.. .A Drastic Reduction in Energy, Fuel and Emission from Automobiles, or a lot of Motor/Battery Power and Electricity for the EVs, is possible by getting rid of their Energy Wasting Friction Brakes and using a `Smart Transmission' that Recover most of their Kinetic Energy while Braking, and re-using the same Energy (Stored in Transmission), for powering the Next Acceleration!. ..just like how a simple Energy Mechanism in a pull-back Toy Car does it so beautifully!. ..Trrrr (= Braking), ..Vroom (= Battery Free Acceleration!).. .A Unique Transmission that Recover, Store and Reuse the Braking Energy in all Automobiles, and offer a completely Energy, Fuel and Emission Free Acceleration (Battery Free Acceleration for the EVs!), was shown at the AutoExpo2000, New Delhi, 25 years ago!.. .A Simple realization by Automakers that a Coil spring @ in Automobile can act as Motor, Generator, Battery/ Ultra-Capacitor in one simple object (to Recover, Store and Re-use the Braking Energy), can greatly reduce the Emission from all Automobiles (Motor/Battery Power and Electricity for the EVs).. .According to Laws of Motion, Acceleration can be Free of the use of New Energy, Engine Power and Fuel (or a lot of Motor/Battery Power and Electricity for the EVs), if most of the Kinetic Energy is recovered while Braking and reused for the Next Acceleration, and the Velocity is Free when the Air Drag is low or substantially reduced. Our Automobiles would need only 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 or 1/5 of New Energy and Fuel for their Next Acceleration, by Recovering most of their Kinetic Energy while Braking and Reusing that same Energy (Stored in a Transmission/ Wheels/Axles) for Powering the Next Acceleration. ..just like in a pull-back Toy Car!. ..Trrrr (Braking), ..Vroom (Free Acceleration!).. .Time for Automakers to get rid of Energy Wasting Friction Brakes from Energy Guzzling Electric Vehicles, and thereby reduce a lot of Battery Power and Electricity; if not also from rest of Automobiles that use Engine and Fuel and thereby reduce Air Pollution and Emission from all Automobiles, but by doing so, reduce the Burden on Electric Vehicles, Electric Grid, Gas and the Governments (on Tax rebates/Subsidies for the EVs). . .If Automobiles get rid of their Energy Wasting Friction Brakes, the Battery for EVs can be Restricted in Size and Location of the Fuel Tank!. This would not only result in All ICE Models Ready to be offered as Electric Vehicles, but make All ICE Vehicles Highly Energy/Fuel Efficient and Pollution Free!.Read allPost comment
