Sudarshan Setu: This stunning bridge in the image is India’s longest cable-stayed bridge! PM Narendra Modi has on February 25, 2024 inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu in Gujarat. The breathtaking bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 980 crore and will provide seamless connectivity to pilgrims travelling to Beyt Dwarka. Beyt Dwarka, located near the Okha port, lies approximately 30 km from Dwarka town and is home to the renowned Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna. Sudarshan Setu length

Sudarshan Setu length: This cable-stayed bridge, spanning 2.32 kilometers, stands as the longest of its kind in India, as stated by the PMO. It connects the Okha mainland to Beyt Dwarka island. Formerly referred to as the 'Signature Bridge,' it has been renamed as 'Sudarshan Setu' or Sudarshan Bridge.

Sudarshan Setu design: Characterized by its distinct design, the new Sudarshan Setu bridge features footpaths embellished with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides. Ahead of the inauguration, PM Modi called the bridge a "stunning project".

Sudarshan Setu unique features: Additionally, solar panels have been installed atop the footpaths of the new bridge. These will help generate one megawatt of electricity, according to the Prime Minister’s Office statement.

Sudarshan Setu interesting facts: This remarkable infrastructure has been built on the Arabian Sea and features a four-lane design. It boasts a width of 27.20 meters, along with 2.50-meter-wide footpaths on either side for pedestrian access. Its construction includes a central double span cable-stayed portion extending over 900 meters, complemented by a 2.45-kilometer-long approach road.

About Sudarshan Setu

Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2017, the construction of Sudarshan Setu was underscored for its role in connecting old and new Dwarka. Presently, the bridge not only facilitates smoother commute but also stands as a tourist attraction, showcasing Gujarat's rich cultural heritage and architectural excellence.
