STT GDC India signs MoU to invest Rs 1900 Cr in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Data centre major ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India (STT GDC India) on Tuesday said that it has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government during the Global Investors Meet 2024 last week to invest up to Rs 1,900 crore over the next 5-7 years to create additional data centre capacity of up to 80 MW critical IT load.
STT GDC India currently has close to 45 MW of operational capacity in Chennai, and in line with the digital adoption in India and TN, STT GDC India is planning expansion.
"This MoU represents a significant step towards our commitment to driving economic and social benefits by establishing state-of-the-art data centre infrastructure. We are confident that this collaboration will not only enhance our operational capacity but also contribute to the overall development of the digital infrastructure in Tamil Nadu," Sumit Mukhija, Executive Director & CEO of STT GDC India said.
STT GDC India's Chennai data centre network includes the STT Chennai 2 facility located in Ambattur across four lakh sq. ft of land, and 25 MW critical IT load capacity. The facility is AI infrastructure ready with ability to support very high-density power requirements as well as liquid cooling where required, the company said.
STT GDC India is a majority-owned subsidiary of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Singapore. It currently manages one of the largest white space area, with more than 300MW of critical IT load spread across 28 facilities including facilities under development, across 10 cities in India, and holds around 30% market share by revenue.
