NEW DELHI: Indian globetrotters will now be able to fly the worlds’ largest commercial aircraft — Airbus A-380 — from their own country. Singapore Airlines (
SIA) on Wednesday announced that it will have a daily flight between Singapore and Delhi apart from a daily Singapore-Mumbai connection from May 30.
SIA has configured its A-380s in two variants and the airline has chosen the more luxurious one — which has suites (a notch above the first class in the other variant) — for the India flights.
The airline’s decision came as it feels India is a market with substantial demand for super luxury, premium products. The A-380 chosen for India routes will have 471 seats in three class configuration — 12 suites, 60 business and 399 economy. Also, the airline is currently having trials for Wi-Fi in its Boeing 777 aircraft and plans to have internet on the A-380s soon.
SIA currently has three flights daily on both the Delhi-Singapore and Mumbai-Singapore routes.
