Sensex consolidates on gains, Nifty rangebound; both finish in green

Sensex and Nifty on Monday, continued to build upon the gains of last week as both the indices were in green when the markets closed. The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 54.03 points to close at 32,074.78 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 9,915.95, up by 29.60 points.
The Sensex, in intra day-trade, also posted a new all-time high of 32,131.92.
Grasim's stocks were buzzing and went up by more than 4.50 per cent as it's financial arm Aditya Birla Capital will be listed on the bourses later this week.
Shareholders will get 7 shares of Aditya Birla Capital for every 5 shares of Grasim. Investors need to buy Grasim stocks by the end of Tuesday's trade, to be eligible for the share transfer. Mahindra and Mahindra, Adani Ports, Cipla and Wipro were the other major gainers.
On the other hand, ITC stocks slipped by 3 per cent on concerns that cess on cigarettes may go up after the GST Council meeting scheduled on Monday. Coal India, GAIL, Coal India and Yes Bank were the other losers.
