PM: GST served as powerful growth engine
New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday said goods and services tax has served as a powerful engine of growth and helped foster co-operative federalism by making states equal partners in this journey to integrate India's market.
"Eight years since it was introduced, GST stands out as a landmark reform that has reshaped India's economic landscape. By reducing compliance burden, it has greatly improved the Ease of Doing Business, particularly for small and medium enterprises," Modi posted on X.
GST, which was implemented from July 1, 2017, unified 17 taxes and 13 cesses, created a seamless national market by simplifying compliance and digitising tax systems.
