NEW DELHI: The aviation ministry has set the ball rolling to begin the complicated process of HR integration of erstwhile
Air India and Indian Airlines by appointing a joint MD in the merged airline who would be incharge of this process. Syed
Nasir Ali, a 1990 batch IRS officer posted as director in the ministry, has been made the number two person in AI, under AI CMD Rohit Nandan.
Nasir Ali was a member of the Dharmadhikari committee that has laid out the roadmap for level-mapping of employees of the now-merged airlines. Aviation minister Ajit Singh has tasked Ali with finalizing the report and implementing it.
“Ajit Singh got the post of joint MD revived for Ali so that a senior and knowledgeable officer – who has neither AI nor IA tag on him – to be made in charge for this tough task. Ali was member-secretary of the Dharma panel and knows what he has to do,” said sources. In terms of airline hierarchy, Ali will be under only the CMD Rohit Nandan.
