My budget would be a balanced one: Former standing committee chairman Sandip Joshi

I would have gone for a people-friendly budget, avoiding big announcements without having any base. Being responsible for getting works done, I would have stressed more on recovery and avoided taxing the citizens.
Property Tax
There is much scope to increase revenue from property tax. I would have announced a time bound programme to bring all properties in the city under tax purview.
Over 50,000 properties are not under tax ambit. Same is the case with revaluation of existing properties. I would have declared regular camps and a single window system for providing easy access to the citizens.
Advertisement policy
Advertisement policy would have been one of my budget highlights. I would have ensured at least 10 new revenue sources from advertisements. For example, around 5,000 autos and 470 Starbuses ply in the city. I would have ensured these vehicles attract advertisements and the auto drivers, bus staffers are provided proper facilities.
Town planning
Town planning department is also a major revenue source but neglected. I would have announced online facilities for transparency and speedy processing. I would have brought new policies to encourage parking in residential and commercial buildings to put an end to several issues at a time.

Civic facilities
Proper vegetable markets in the city are need of the hour. I would have gone for construction of simple market places instead of proposing big projects. Similarly, I would make the system flexible so that citizens can approach the Nagpur Municipal Corporation easily. No big plans are needed for providing birth/ death certificates, marriage registration. I would have opened ward-wise offices or started online facilities to ensure proper services.
Health care
I would have come up with good medical schemes. Many NGOs, organizations and corporate houses are ready to lend a helping hand to the NMC in providing cheap medical facilities to citizens.
Citizens' feedback
My budget would have been a balanced one with focus on expenditure and implementation to benefit the common man. In order to get regular feedback from citizens, I would have made all possible efforts to meet them through various initiatives like Lokshahi Din etc.
