NEW DELHI: Equity markets conduct a symbolic one-hour trading session -- known as 'muhurat trading' -- on the occasion of Diwali every year. Worshipping account books and cash registers during this time is a common practice. The session marks the beginning of a new Hindu calendar year, Vikram Samvat 2076.

Trades executed during this session would result in settlement obligations, NSE said.
