Maruti Suzuki’s board has approved the establishment of a third manufacturing plant at Kharkhoda in Haryana to enhance its production capacity. This new facility will add 2.5 lakh vehicles annually to the company’s output.
The current Kharkhoda plant already produces 2.5 lakh vehicles per year, and with the second plant under construction, Maruti is set to increase its production by an additional 2.5 lakh units annually.
The total production capacity at Kharkhoda is expected to reach 7.5 lakh vehicles per year by 2029, according to an ET report.
The investment required for this capacity expansion is estimated at Rs 7,410 crore. In 2024, Maruti Suzuki achieved a significant milestone by producing over 20 lakh vehicles in a single calendar year for the first time. This made Maruti Suzuki the first among Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global manufacturing facilities to reach this landmark.
Of the 20 lakh vehicles produced, nearly 60% came from its Haryana plants, with the remaining 40% produced at its Gujarat facility. Notably, the 20 millionth vehicle was an Ertiga, which rolled out from the company’s Manesar facility in Haryana.
Maruti Suzuki is also planning to set up a new greenfield facility with an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units and is currently in the process of selecting an ideal location for the project.
