Reliance Jio's entry into the telecom market of India has transformed the sector in a big way. Jio, which brought dirt cheap combo plans with free benefits, forced other big players in the industry to tweak their telecom tariffs and offer other freebies.

After disrupting the telecom sector with its cellular plans, the company is now spreading its wings in broadband services. In July 2018, at RIL's 41st Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani launched

Jio GigaFiber

FTTH broadband service alongside the JioPhone 2.

Jio GigaFiber is yet to be operational, however, it has already brought in competition to the other broadband providers such as BSNL and Airtel. Feeling the heat of the competition, these companies have come up with their own services such as - BSNL launched BSNL Broadband and Airtel came up with Airtel V-Fiber.

All these companies offer different benefits, prices and offers for their broadband users. Here is a brief comparison:

1) Jio GigaFiber

Currently, Jio is providing JioGigaFiber preview offer. As per official website of the Reliance Jio, the JioGigaFiber preview offer provides 100GB of data per month for 90 days (3 months) at a speed of 100Mbps. It also provides a complimentary access to a host of Jio's premium apps. A complementary data top-up of 40GB can be added via MyJio App or through Jio.com in case monthly data limit is consumed completely. Since its a preview offer, there are no installation charges, however, a refundable security deposit of Rs 4,500 is charged for the ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway).

2) Airtel V-Fiber

Bharati Airtel under its V-Fiber broadband service is providing a free broadband router and complimentary Amazon Prime subscription for a year. The Airtel V-Fiber's Rs 799 plan offers 100GB of data per month at 40Mbps speed along with unlimited calling benefits. The users can also subscribe to Rs 1,299 plan that offers 500GB of data per month at a speed of 100Mbps. The company also offers an unlimited data plan priced at Rs 1,999 with a data speed of 100Mbps.


3) BSNL Broadband

The Indian state-owned telecommunications company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has a widespread presence in this segment. BSNL's Rs 777 plan offers 500GB of data per month at 50Mbps speed. The Rs 1,277 plan offers 750GB of data per month at 100Mbps speed. If the monthly data allowance is exhausted, the speed drops to 20Mbps. The BSNL offers free installation but the users need to pay for the router and one-time security fee.
