NEW DELHI: South Korean carmaker Hyundai India on Wednesday, announced the name of its Maruti Suzuki Brezza rival and their first compact SUV in India as

Hyundai Venue

. Referred to as a ‘Connected SUV’, Hyundai’s newest offering will break cover on April 17 in India and at the New York Motor Show. It will hit domestic markets in May 2019 at an estimated price range of Rs 7-10 lakh.

In a video shared online, Hyundai has described the SUV as “trendy, unique, stylish and perfect for Hyundai’s newest connected SUV” hinting that the car will be loaded with features.

An official teaser video and spy shots of the vehicle reveal Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, sporty alloy wheels, roof rails and even a sunroof, making way to the new Hyundai Venue. It might be safe to call it a 'mini-Creta' but with some new-age Hyundai features.

The Hyundai Venue is expected to arrive in India with three engine-gearbox options. A 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol, a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine along with a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine. While it's early to speculate the availability of an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), it is predicted to make the cut.

In India, Hyundai Venue will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the newly launched Mahindra XUV300,

Ford EcoSport

and

Tata Nexon

.
