Heavy rains hit flight operations at Mumbai airport
MUMBAI: Flight operations at Mumbai were hit on Thursday as heavy rains lashed the city affecting visibility. Aircraft operations were suspended and the runway was shut from 10.36 am to 10.55 am after visibility fell.
The eight minute runway closure aggravated the delays and by noon departures and arrivals were delayed by an average of one hour. Air India in a tweet on X informed passengers about the heavy rains in Mumbai and offered full fare refunds for passengers who wished to cancel their travel plans. IndiGo tweeted that the heavy rains had led to air traffic congestion in Mumbai. The airline asked passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
