HDFC Bank online snag persists for second day
Mumbai: Customers of HDFC Bank faced problems in accessing their accounts online for the second day as an outage of net banking services continued. The bank said that the resolution of a technical glitch was taking more time than expected.
The bank said that some customers were able to transact using net and mobile banking, while “few may still be facing intermittent issues”. The limited access to net banking had an impact on other platforms like the
Bank sources said that customer access had been reduced because the lender was trying to fix a software glitch. As a result, the number of concurrent customers who could use net banking had come down. Operators of payment gateways said that customers trying to pay using HDFC Bank net banking were facing issues across several online merchants.
According to sources, the incident has left the bank embarrassed as it took place amid efforts to promote the bank’s digital offerings. Sources said that the focus was on getting it back to normal after which the bank will do a root cause analysis. The bank has not still taken a call on extending the deadline for credit card customers whose bills were due on Monday and Tuesday. However, there is a strong likelihood this would happen, sources said.
