BENGALURU: B V R Subbu, former president of Hyundai Motor India, has joined the board of Ola Electric — the e-vehicle arm of the cab-hailing major. Subbu, prior to joining
Ola Electric’s board, had joined the board of Ampere Vehicles, the electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton, in September.
Subbu is also a
Tata group veteran, having spent about 18 years at
Tata Motors.
According to Ola Electric, Subbu runs a boutique consulting firm advising global private equity funds. “Subbu has played a key role in building and establishing some of India’s iconic automotive products like Hyundai Santro and Tata 2213. His deep understanding of the mobility space and consumers will be very valuable to us in our journey to build electric mobility for India and the world,” said Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. Ola Electric also counts Arun Sarin, former CEO of Vodafone group, as its independent director.
Ola Electric’s valuation had touched $1 billion in July after a $250-million (Rs 1,801-crore) financing from SoftBank. Tiger Global and Matrix Partners are also its existing investors.
