Essar arm GreenLine, Sterlite Copper enter LNG truck deal
NEW DELHI: Essar group’s clean mobility venture GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd has entered a partnership with Sterlite Copper to deploy trucks running on clean burning LNG (liquefied natural gas) trucks with a view to decarbonising the Vedanta group company’s transportation.
Greenline’s LNG trucks will transport finished goods to from Sterlite’s Silvassa plant to the northern region, utilising a reverse logistics model. These trucks can travel up to 1,200 km on a single tank with a 40-tonne payload.
“By integrating our LNG technology into Sterlite Copper’s operations, we not only enhance our service offerings but also set a standard for decarbonisation in the transportation sector,” a GreenLine statement quoted CEO Anand Mimani as saying.
GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% and significantly lower other emissions compared to traditional diesel trucks. To date, the company’s fleet has traveled over 22 million kilometers, resulting in a reduction of about 6,000 tonnes of emissions, the statement.
