NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Friday sought the stand of jailed former Union finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti on the Enforcement Directorate's (ED's) plea challenging the anticipatory bail granted to them in the Aircel-Maxis case.
Justice Suresh Kait issued notices to Chidambaram and Karti on the probe agency's petition, seeking cancellation of their anticipatory bail, and gave them time till November 29 to respond.
On that day, other petitions filed by the CBI and the ED, challenging the trial court's order discharging former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran and others in the same case, are also listed.
A special court had on February 2, 2017, discharged DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran, his brother Kalanithi Maran and others in the Aircel-Maxis case, before the agencies made Chidambaram and Karti accused in the case by filing supplementary chargesheets.
Appearing for ED, solicitor general Tushar Mehta on Friday sought to reverse the special judge's September 5 order granting anticipatory bail to Chidambaram and Karti.
