AMARAVATI: In a major boost to the industrial development in the state, Dixon Technologies has come forward to invest in Kopparthi Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Kadapa district.
Dixon unit will provide employment to nearly two- three thousand people. The firm will manufacture mobiles, variables, laptops, tablets, security equipment and cameras in the Kopparthi unit in Kadapa district. |
A delegation of Dixon Technologies (India) Limited has called on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the camp office here on Tuesday. Chief minister welcomed the decision of Dixon to set up shop in Kopparthi and assured that the government would extend its complete support.
Dixon executives explained to the chief minister that they are readying plans to expand their unit in Tirupati and create another 1000 jobs. They said they will partner with Bosch to set up washing machine manufacturing unit in the home Appliances division.

Earlier in the day, Dixon chairman Vachani visited the headquarters of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) in Mangalagiri and held discussions with the industries minister Mekapati Gautham Reddy and APIIC managing director K Raveen Kumar Reddy.
The Dixon top officials made a presentation about their expansion plan proposals in Tirupati and in Kopparthi of Kadapa.
Speaking on the occasion, Vachani said that plans are afoot to invest in YSR EMC Kopparthi, for which discussions are in a fairly advanced stage with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He said that Dixon was the largest LED TV manufacturer in India.
Currently, they are venturing into the surveillance products sector and manufacturing of Bosch washing machines in their facility in Tirupati. He explained that with the current expansion, Dixon technologies would become the fifth largest LED TV manufacturing company in the world.
APIIC MD Raveen Kumar Reddy said that priority would be given to Dixon as an anchor tenant. He asked the officials to identify contiguous areas for future Dixon technologies expansion. He advised Dixon to take advantage of the industrial smart cities being developed by the state government for their new product expansion plans. He also wanted the environment wing to look into the aspects of solid and other forms of waste disposal and management.

*Dixon chairman Vachani said that they are also venturing into new product categories such as wearables, on a tie up with boAt and telecom products valued at Rs 200 crore.
*With the integration, Dixon technologies will be moving into clustering, a complete ecosystem creation concept globally, duly leveraging Productive Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes of the state government.
