CISF’s ‘Coastal Cyclothon getting widespread support’
NEW DELHI: CISF’s “Coastal Cyclothon” - covering 6,553 km of India’s coastline – has covered 4,700 km of its journey and one team has reached Karnataka on the west coast, the other Tamil Nadu on the eastern coast. It will culminate in Kanyakumari on April 1.
“The Cyclothon has garnered widespread support and enthusiasm from local populations at every stage. At each stopover, cycling teams have actively engaged with communities at various locations, including schools, colleges, hospitals, community centres, and fisherman association offices… The crucial role of local residents as coastal sentinels, has been consistently emphasised. In turn, the communities have demonstrated their affection and appreciation for the CISF, acknowledging the force’s vital role in safeguarding the nation’s economic infrastructure. This widespread motivation and confidence in the CISF has instilled a profound sense of honour in the cycling teams,” CISAF said in a statement.
“As cyclists continue their expedition, they will proceed along the coastal stretches of Kerala and Puducherry, carrying the message of coastal security and community empowerment. The grand culmination of this mammoth exercise is scheduled for March 31 at Kanyakumari, where both teams will converge, marking the end of this extraordinary endeavour,” the statement added.
