CCL CMD Gopal Singh made acting chairman of Coal India Limited

Ranchi: Gopal Singh, the chairman-cum-managing director of

Central Coalfields Limited

(CCL), was on Friday appointed as the acting chairman of Coal India Limited.

Singh is a graduate from the

Indian School of Mines

in Dhanbad. He holds M Tech degree and has a MBA with specialization in finance, the CCL said in a statement issued in the evening.

Singh took over as CCL CMD in 2012. The ailing central

PSU

made a turnaround in its fortunes under his stewardship and touched a record 61 million ton (MT) coal production in the 2016-17 financial year. He was also handed over the additional charge of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) last year.
