has been selling cow dung cakes online which is getting a good response from buyers from different parts of the country. This innovative use of animal by-product to generate finance is the brainchild of three young entrepreneurs — Gagandeep Singh, Amanpreet Singh andUttamjyot Singh
who together own "GAU farm" located in Kota. The cow dung cakes are being sold as a set of dozen for Rs 120 through e-commerce portals. The farm has an average sale of 15 consignments per week. "We have been selling cow dung cakes for nearly three months and the sale is increasing," director of the firm Amanpreet Singh said. Through the process of drying and setting, a semi-liquid cow manure slurry is turned to circular discs. These discs are then passed through a heat shrink to retain their shapes. The finished products are packed into cardboard sealed boxes and sent out for delivery. He informed that the farm has over 100 cows. The livestock farm spread over 40 acres of land has also converted animal waste into electricity by establishing a bio gas plant, he said, adding, the farm is using solar power as well as electricity generated through the plant.
