MUMBAI: In an organizational restructuring, Britannia Industries said MD Vinita Bali will now focus on international and new business growth, while COO Varun Berry would lead India operations.
The company said that this move will help to transition Britannia to an all-embracing food company from a bakery/dairy company. To this effect, Bali will focus on international business, Britannia Nutrition Foundation and new business development so as to create adjacencies and new opportunities.
The company also intends to scale up its international operations and at the same time increase focus on its large and profitable India operations with a view to growing scale and market share in the face of increased competition.
Britannia, chairman, Nusli Wadia, said: "With these changes we are preparing Britannia for high growth in Britannia's India operations by catering to the changing food habits of the evolving Indian consumer and pursuing opportunities for growth in the overall food domain, here and abroad."
According to Bali: "The new structure will help Britannia grow faster in India, while it also focuses on growth in the international markets and addresses new business opportunities for the company."
Varun Berry, who recently joined the company, has 27 years of experience with leading companies like Hindustan Unilever and Pepsico Foods. His last assignment was with Pepsico Foods India as CEO.
