BPCL achieves major offshore engineering feat in Mumbai-Rasayani pipeline
NEW DELHI: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has achieved a major milestone in offshore engineering, successfully completing one of the country’s first large-scale offshore Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crossings under the Mumbai-Rasayani Pipeline Project.
In a social media post, Union petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the public sector oil marketing company executed a 10-inch diameter, 2.3-km offshore sea-to-land HDD pull in a challenging inter-tidal zone, where shifting tidal windows and dynamic marine conditions demand high precision and operational control. The complex operation required meticulous planning and flawless execution, given the narrow working windows dictated by tidal patterns.
“This achievement reflects the energy PSU’s commitment to advancing technical capability, enhancing infrastructure resilience, and delivering complex projects with precision, safety, and operational excellence,” Puri said in a post on X.
He added that the feat reflected India’s growing self-reliance in fuel logistics in its journey towards energy self-sufficiency.
