NEW DELHI: Banks in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh are closed on Monday to mark two state-specific holidays — State Inauguration Day and Indigenous Faith Day. Banks in all other states are operating as usual.
Bank holidays in India vary by state, depending on local festivals and observances. The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a monthly list of bank closures to help customers plan their banking activities.
Why are banks closed today? In Nagaland, December 1 is observed as State Inauguration Day, commemorating the formation of the state in 1963.
