At Rs 7L cr, Reliance doubles bet on AI, clean energy in Gujarat

RAJKOT: Reliance Industries will double its investment in Gujarat to Rs 7 lakh crore, focussing on clean energy, a bold push in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital inclusion, sports infrastructure and social development. RIL CMD Mukesh Ambani announced Sunday that the group will pioneer India's AI push by setting up the country's largest AI-ready data centre in Jamnagar and Jio will launch a "people-first intelligence platform", built in India for domestic and global users, enabling citizens-starting from Gujarat-to access AI tools in their own language on their personal devices for everyday productivity and efficiency.

"We have already invested over Rs 3.5 lakh crore in the state over the last five years. This would be doubled to Rs 7 lakh crore. The investment would generate exponential employment, create new livelihoods and add greater sampatti (wealth)" for every Gujarati and Indian," Ambani said at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference.

Ambani also said that the the geopolitical situation is creating new challenges, including some unexpected turbulence. "What is reassuring for India is that these challenges cannot touch or trouble our people. This is because India has the invincible protective wall called Narendrabhai Modi," he added.

At Jamnagar, Reliance is building the world's largest integrated clean energy ecosystem, spanning solar manufacturing, battery energy storage, green hydrogen, green fertilisers and sustainable aviation fuel.
