Anita Goyal, Naresh Goyal's wife passes away

MUMBAI: Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal’s wife, Anita Goyal passed away on Thursday morning. She was ailing.

"She passed away around 3 am. She is being brought home from the hospital Naresh Goyal is at their Mumbai residence currently," said a source. She is survived by her spouse and two children, Namrata and Nivaan Goyal.

Early this month, Naresh Goyal had sought interim bail from the Bombay High court on medical and humanitarian grounds to meet his wife. His lawyers had stated that Goyal's wife had only months to live and he wishes to be by her side. Both the Goyals are under treatment for cancer.

Naresh Goyal was arrested by ED in Sept 2023 on allegations of money laundering. He had siphoned off loans worth Rs 539 crore given by Canara Bank to Jet Airways. After ED submitted its chargesheet, his wife, Anita, was also arrested in Nov 2023. But she was suffering from cancer and a special court granted her bail on the same day.
