Amway is ‘actively exploring’ entry into Ayurveda segment: MD
CHENNAI: Direct selling MNC brand Amway is ‘actively exploring’ an entry into the Ayurveda segment following the success of its nutrition category products in India. The Ayurveda products will come in the next 2-3 years.
Speaking to TOI, Rajneesh Chopra, MD, Amway India, said: “We are actively exploring opportunities across diverse spaces, including the Ayurveda preparations as part of our commitment to explore ways to deliver innovative, authentic and science-backed wellness solutions.”
“When the company launch its Ayurveda range, it will likely do so under the Nutrilite brand,” he added.
“As this category evolves, Nutrilite will remain at the forefront of this movement, delivering products that support the holistic wellbeing of our consumers,” he said.
The strategy to look at new categories like Ayurveda is part of the company’s “strategic priority of 2025, which is to build a robust pipeline of innovative products,” added Chopra.
The Ayurveda extension is part of the company’s efforts to include local herbs in its healthcare range.
“We recognise the deep connection of Indian consumers towards the Indian traditional herbs for holistic health and wellbeing, and we see great potential to expand Nutrilite’s offerings in this domain,” said Chopra.
“We have taken a step in this direction with our Nutrilite Traditional Herb Range under which we currently have seven products using ingredients such as Tulsi, Brahmi, Amla, Ashwagandha among others,” he said.
The Ayurveda expansion ties into the fact that the nutrition category continues to be the top-performing segment for Amway in India with Nutrilite contributing over 62% to the company’s business revenue. In India, the dietary supplements market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 15% by 2030.
Amway India, which manufactures 80% of the products retailed in India at its plant in Nilakottai in Tamil Nadu, has lined up capital investment of Rs 35 crore for FY25-26 after spending over Rs 22 crore in FY24-25.
