CHENNAI: Dating before marriage is a must, revealed 62% of women in a survey conducted by Shaadi.com. 71% of the respondents added that they would like to date for more than six months while only 29% would like to date for 90 days or less.
Another trend that stood out is that NRIs are getting less desirable. As women become more and more independent, they are unwilling to uproot their life post marriage which in turn is making NRI grooms less desirable for the Indian bride.
The groom living out of the country was the No 1 deal breaker with 33% women choosing this option.
Only 19% women chose ‘earning less than me’ as a deal breaker. It is a clear reflection of how it’s not a priority when looking for a life partner.
Commenting on the findings, Pamit Anand, VP & business head Shaadi.com, said, “Over the years, women have moved away from traditional factors when looking for a life partner. Factors such as the groom’s family or his income are not deciders when choosing a partner. The belief that women are looking for financial dependence in their to-be husbands is a thing of the past.”
