NEW DELHI: Triumph Motorcycles launched the 2019 Speed Twin in India on Wednesday at Rs 9.46 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Manufacturers confirmed that the booking for the modern classic has begun across all dealerships in the country.




The Speed Twin is available in three colour schemes -- jet black, korosi red and silver ice. The overall look of the modern classic is decent and the highlight remains in the usage of chrome. It has premium brushed aluminium mudguards, throttle body covers, bright anodised forged aluminium headlight brackets.

The

Triumph Speed Twin

shares a similar engine to that of the Thruxton R with minor changes. The Speed Twin is powered by a free-revving 1,200cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, churning out 97PS of power at 6,750 rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,950 rpm.

The power output of the 2019 Speed Twin witnesses a 76% increase over the Street Twin when it was first launched, and 49% more than the 2018 update. Moreover, the torque is 40% more than the 2018 update to the Speed Twin.

The lighter magnesium cam covers, lighter clutch and lighter internal components in the motor enhance the performance. Moreover, mated to a six-speed gearbox, the engine at the heart of Speed Twin is 2.5kg lighter than the Thruxton R.

four-piston callipers and a single rear disc with Nissin two-piston callipers serve the braking duties on the road. Dual channel ABS (anti-brake locking system) comes as standard. Overall, the Speed Twin tips at 196kg, which is lighter than Thruxton R.

To optimise the fun, comfort and control for the rider, the Speed Twin has been offered with a host of advanced technology. It features 3 riding modes – sport, road and rain - which provide the rider maximum control and traction control settings.
