How to link your Aadhaar to Airtel mobile number
In accordance with the government rules, all telecom companies have to verify their customers based on their individual mobile numbers. It is because of this, customers have been receiving multiple SMSs by their respective providers stating to link their mobile number with Aadhaar.
The online linking of mobile number or SIM number with Aadhaar is not functional as of now. Thus, you will have to visit some retail store near you of your particular operator to link your mobile number with Aadhaar.
For the customers with Airtel network, it is a very simple method . All you need to do is to visit the nearest Airtel Store in case you are a postpaid customer. If you have a prepaid connection, the mobile-Aadhaar verification can be done at the nearest retail store itself.
Do not forget to take along a copy of your Aadhaar card/number and your mobile. At the store, you will be have to complete your biometric verification. post which you will receive a verification code in the form of a One Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number that would be required to complete the process.
The information available on the official website of Airtel states that, "In case you don't complete the mobile verification process within deadline, services on your Airtel mobile number will be disconnected as per the directive from Government of India."
Initially the deadline was February 6, 2018 which is now extended to March 31, 2018.
The telecom operator is also organizing camps at various locations across the country where you can verify your mobile number.
So, if you are one of those people who haven't applied for the Aadhaar card registration, you can register on UIDAI website - https://uidai.gov.in
