NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav criticised the interim Budget presented by the BJP government, calling it a 'farewell budget'.

He said that the BJP government has consistently presented anti-people budgets for a decade, and it is time for a positive government to take charge.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Akhilesh said, "If any budget is not for development and any development is not for the people then it is useless. The BJP government has created a shameful record by completing a decade of anti-people budgets, which will never be broken again because now is the time for a positive government to come. This is BJP's 'farewell budget'."

BSP National president Mayawati also slammed the budget saying that the Budget is 'far removed from reality and more of an election gimmick'.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath referred to the interim Budget as a roadmap for making India a global growth engine. In a post on X, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in making India a five-trillion-dollar economy and expressed gratitude to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the Budget.

Governor Anandiben Patel also commended the Budget, stating that it would accelerate the progress of the country. She emphasized that the Budget aligns with the aspirations of the nation, focusing on the development of the poor, women, youth, and farmers.

The governor further added that the Budget aims to make the country self-dependent and pave the way for the establishment of 'Ram rajya'.
