It gave me a lot of scope to perform and also a lot of satisfaction as an actress while doing it. It wasn''t the usual kind of role where the actress is just a pretty face. I knew I was doing a villain''s role when I took it up, and portrayed it to the best of my ability.

Did it ever cross your mind while shooting that you would be nominated in this category?

No, when I''m doing a film, I don''t think about awards. Obviously, I want the film to do well and I would like to be appreciated as an actress. For me, the Filmfare nomination itself is a great reward, and believe me, I''m happy with it.

If you were the judge and asked to select one from the remaining four nominees in your category whom would you chose the winner?

I don''t know. Maybe I''d select Irrfan Khan and myself. I''d give both of us the trophy. My role was so different from the run-of-the-mill roles actresses do, and it has been well appreciated. He''s done a great job in Haasil. I''m also working with him in two films and I think he is a wonderful person and knows his job very well.

Your performance has been most appreciated — if one goes by the box-office success of the film — now who do you expect should win?

I don''t know whether I should answer that one!
