Mumbai''s a bit of a temptation that she wants to indulge in. But only at the right time, says designer Ritu Beri. "I''d love to retail here, the temptation''s just too much," she admits with a laugh, "but I''d rather wait for the right business partners."
The designer believes in doing things at the right time. She is in Mumbai for a fashion show tonight with an international jewellery company, and the proceeds will go to the Prime Minister''s tsunami victims relief funds. Having diversified into lifestyle products, Ritu is now also negotiating with the jewellery company to design her signature line. "It''s going to be very high end, focusing on gold and diamonds," she reveals. Not such a difficult task, she says, considering she did most of her jewellery at her wedding to Bobby Chadha last year.
Speaking of her wedding which came after weeks of media speculation, she says she''s beginning to enjoy it right now. Has the globe-trotting Beri finally settled down? "Nah," she laughs. "I was always settled down — I used to think marriage would unsettle me!" She adds, "My husband''s been a constant in my life and such a source of support that I look upon this as a fairy tale beginning."
