Homebound to close Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025

After a world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Homebound — directed by National Award-winner Neeraj Ghaywan — will close the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025. The film features Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles.
Homebound follows the emotionally charged journey of two childhood friends from northern India who dream of becoming police officers to escape their socio-economic realities. As they edge closer to their goal, their bond is tested by ambition and inner conflict. The film has already garnered critical acclaim for its introspective narrative and powerful performances.

Speaking about the selection, Neeraj said, “Homebound explores the fragile threads of friendship and the emotional cost of breaking free. IFFM has always championed meaningful cinema, and I’m honoured it will close the festival.”
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025 will run from August 14 to 24, featuring a robust line-up of films, red carpet galas, panels, and the prestigious IFFM Awards.
