India-Israel ties have moved beyond friendship. As they say in Hebrew, sababa – that’s great

Think of the relationship between India and Israel like a high-level “group project” between two best friends who are both really good at different things. Here is the breakdown of why these two countries are becoming “besties” on the world stage.

More Than Just Business

In Hebrew (the language spoken in Israel), there is a word called firgun. It means feeling genuinely happy and proud when your friend succeeds. That is exactly how India and Israel feel about each other right now.

When Prime Minister Modi visited Israel, it wasn’t just about boring meetings. The leaders shared personal stories. They’ve moved past being just “business partners” to being real friends.

The Secret Formula: Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, even came up with a math equation to describe the friendship: Indian Talent (IT) × Israeli Technology (IT) = I²T². Basically, he means that when you combine India’s smart people with Israel’s high-tech inventions, the future looks amazing. What are they working on?

Farming: Finding better ways to grow food with less water.

Cybersecurity: Keeping the internet safe from hackers.

Space: Working together on satellites and high-tech gear.

Defence: Israel is a tiny country, but it has some of the best military tech in the world, like the Iron Dome (a system that shoots missiles out of the sky before they can hit the ground).

Why Do They Need Each Other? It’s a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” situation.

What Israel Gets:

A Huge Market – India has over 1.4 billion people to buy Israeli products.

A Strong Ally – A powerful friend in Asia to help keep the peace.

What India Gets

Top-Tier Tech – Access to advanced drones and computer chips.

Science Help – Israel spends a huge chunk of its money on research and inventing new things.

The Bottom Line

Even though there are some problems in the world (like shipping issues in the Red Sea), the two countries are more connected than ever. They trust each other, they build things together, and as they say in Israel – sababa! (That’s great!)
