Bigg Boss 8: What's different this season

All the rumours doing the rounds earlier that Salman Khan had decided to quit Bigg Boss as a host, have finally been laid to rest. With the launch of season 8, the handsome actor in the avatar of a pilot is set to enthrall audiences and take contestants on an adventurous trip. All the 12 contestants are celebrities in their own right and over a period of three months, will interact with him at close quarters. While Salman has had his favourites on the earlier seasons, it will be thrilling to know who will bond with him and who will be under his constant gaze. With the launch of the show, here are a few things that are different in season 8 as compared to the earlier ones.

Bigg Boss 8: What's different this season

Different house- Bigg Boss has always come up with unique themes and innovative ideas for the housemates who participate on the reality show and try to stay put for three months. Like usual, this time too the house is based in Lonavala but unlike the Heaven vs. Hell or the good house vs. the bad house, this time there will be only one accommodation for all. In fact, the house is made to resemble a jumbo aircraft and within this house itself there will be a separate economy and business class section, as per reports in the media. Since Bigg Boss is based on the international show Big Brother, what is also different this time is that the house was not featured on the opening night. This is the first time that this has ever happened! On day 1, contestants landed in a garden and the area they were stationed at resembled a jumbo air crash site.

Voting rule dierentff-Voting is crucial to any season of Bigg Boss as this decides whether a contestant will be eliminated from the show or stay. In the previous seasons, audiences could vote for their favourite for a period of five days, once the nominations were announced. But this time it will be different. With a new season comes a lot of twists and turns. In season 8, voting lines will be open only for 24 hours as opposed to the earlier 5 day time period. Post nominations, viewers will have time from Thursday night to Friday night to vote and save the nominated contestants. Salman Khan will announce the results on Saturday and one contestant will be evicted.

Different Logo- The logo plays an important role in the Big Boss house. The eye conveys the message to the contestants that Bigg Boss is always watching. While the logo has remained a constant on all seasons, in this season it is a bit different. In season 8, the eye has changed from the earlier ones. First unveiled by Colors TV on 15 August 2014 in the season teaser on YouTube, the new eye is more futuristic unlike the earlier human eye seen on the previous seasons.

Secret Society- This time what is also different in the Bigg Boss house is the secret society. There are three members in this society, namely RJ Pritam Pyaare, Puneet Issar and Deepshika Nagpal. These three contestants will live separately from the other housemates and have the power to nominate housemates as per the voting done by the viewers. Not only that, these three will also be immune from the nominations that will latke place in the house. And it seems that the members of the secret society have already started using their powers. On day 1 itself, Puneet, Deepshikha and Pritam decided to withhold the bags of six contestants and have been making them perform various tasks in order for them to get basic facilities in the house.

No kitchen and Beds- In the previous seasons, there were a lot of controversies surrounding who would take turns to cook, clean and wash the vessels. There were many fights about the quantity of food considering house mates would have to earn it through tasks and eat in a certain proportion, as per the food quota given to them. But this time things are certainly different. Keeping the jumbo jet theme in mind, the makers have ensured that food is served to contestants in boxes, the way it is on any airplane. It will be interesting to see if Bigg Boss decides to bring in a kitchen at any point of time.

Bigg Boss 8: What's different this season

No Beds- The sleeping area in Bigg Boss' house has always been creative and different. As per the theme, sometimes there have been beds to sleep on and sometimes, the floor. But season 8 has decided to do away with beds as of now. Since the theme is about airplanes and the contestants are the passengers, they will have to sleep on seats, resembling the ones on a flight. So far no separate sleeping area has been created and while this may seem uncomfortable, it seems as if the 12 people inside Bigg Boss' house are on the journey of their life. The sleeping area has always generated a lot of curiosity because a lot of gossip takes place in this chamber. Fight over tasks, luggage, love stories, all have bloomed under this special room so with season 8 not having a room, is certainly a new thing being introduced in Bigg Boss' house.
