Big fads these, in tiny world!
He-Man is out. JK Rowling created Harry Potter has taken the edge and has become the new age Master of the Universe for our local Hari Puttars. Well, enough has been said about this latest and till date most expensive Potternama so we won’t say more... except recommend the Order of the Phoenix (it’s really good!).
Anyways, what we want to know is the other order of the latest fads and fetishes of the bachcha brigade. Other than Harry Hurrah, what is hot and what is not for the small and the stylish. They tell us as it is.
They still... (I) love (u) Rasna: Cola is thanda for our little tykes who unabashedly declare their love for Rasna. Narrates a local restaurateur, “Children usually ask for Rasna when they come with their families. Namit and Shashank, students of Class III prefer Rasna because “its tasty and has less meetha.
Moreover, the little ones like to play chef and master blender by making the drink come alive by missing water, sugar and the Rasna powder!
Tiny TV for tiny tots: Bani, Trimaan, Anmol and Harsh can’t do without their daily fix of Tiny TV on Cartoon Network. Aired on weekdays, the cartoon block features several of the most-loved and renowned children’s shows, including Bob The Builder, Kipper, Oswald and Pingu. All these shows familiarise toddlers with social concepts such as cooperation, sibling rivalry, positive attitude and importance of friends.

Bob teaches children the importance of teamwork, mischievous pup Kipper reflects the questioning mind of a child while the Oswald, the octopus represents teaches kids to stand on their own eight feet. Pingu is a cheeky penguin.
Nod to Noddy: Ha Ha, Harry at last has competition. Good old (and gold) Enid Blyton’s Noddy (which incidentally is also shown on Tiny TV) is a huge hit amongst the pre-teens. Everybody loves the little wooden boy with the jingly blue hat and nodding head. Says Ajay Arora, proprietor, Capital Book Depot, “Noddy is popular as it comes on TV so kids can identify with the character.
Purely for trivia, the first Noddy book - Noddy Goes to Toyland, strikingly illustrated by Dutch artist Harmsen van der Beek was published in 1949 Hrithik is a heartthrob: Irrespective of his dwindling stocks in tinselville, Hrithik Roshan’s popularity amongst the little people is still rock solid. Much loved for his dancing style, the boy wonder makes Ashu, Karanbir, Prachi and Rimjhim want to dance all day long. “Hrithik Roshan is my favourite actor because he dances on You Are My Soniya, enthuses four-year-old Rimjhim.
