BHIM-UPI TOISA 2019 Nominees: Table Tennis

NEW DELHI: The fourth edition of the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA), powered by BHIM-UPI, is India's first of its kind and largest multi-discipline people's choice sports awards. TOISA is a platform created by the Times Group to recognise and reward Indian sporting talent and achievements on a global scale and will be held soon to honour the lionhearts who have given their blood, sweat and tears to make the country proud.
Ahead of the TOISA to be held on March 5, here's a recap of the how these Indian paddlers fared in the year 2019.
Manika Batra
India's most-experienced paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal started 2019 in emphatic fashion, as he broke the legendary Kamlesh Mehta's long-standing record of most national titles, by winning his ninth crown. Sharath, who excelled for the country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, also broke into the top-30 of the ITTF world rankings in December 2018.
Achanta Sharath Kamal

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is currently one of the most talented players in the Indian TT team. Sathiyan, who won three medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was part of the Indian team that clinched the bronze at Asian Games, became the first Indian to break into the top-25 of the ITTF world rankings in January 2019.
