NEW DELHI: The fourth edition of the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA), powered by BHIM-UPI, is India's first of its kind and largest multi-discipline people's choice sports awards. TOISA is a platform created by the Times Group to recognise and reward Indian sporting talent and achievements on a global scale and will be held soon to honour the lionhearts who have given their blood, sweat and tears to make the country proud.

Ahead of the TOISA to be held on March 5, here's a recap of the how these Indian squash players fared in the year 2019.

Joshna Chinappa

India's star squash player Joshna Chinappa had a good run in 2019 as she defended her title at the Asian Individual Squash Championship in Kuala Lumpur. The veteran squash player didn't let the home crowd down as she claimed a record 17th National Squash Championship title. She surpassed Bhuvneshwari Kumari, who had 16 titles to her name, to etch her name in the history books of Indian squash.

Saurav Ghosal
Ace Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal clinched the Asian Individual Squash title becoming the first Indian male to win the continental championship in 2019. The 33-year-old veteran also scripted history as he became the first Indian male squash player to enter the top 10 in the PSA world rankings.

Mahesh Mangaonkar had a few decent outings in 2019, winning the PSA Tour's Sekisui Open title followed by defending his National Championship title. He also finished as the runner-up in the prestigious 2019 SRFI Indian Tour.
