BHIM-UPI TOISA 2019 Nominees: Archery

NEW DELHI: The fourth edition of the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA), powered by BHIM-UPI, is India's first of its kind and largest multi-discipline people's choice sports awards. TOISA is a platform created by the Times Group to recognise and reward Indian sporting talent and achievements on a global scale and will be held soon to honour the lionhearts who have given their blood, sweat and tears to make the country proud.
Ahead of the TOISA to be held on March 5, here's a recap of the how these Indian archers fared in the year 2019.

Abhishek Verma
Abhishek Verma teamed up with Rajat Chauhan and Aman Saini in the Indian men's compound team to defeat Russia 235-230 in the bronze medal playoff at the Archery World Cup in Antalya, Turkey held in May 2019.

Rajat Chauhan
In May 2019, Rajat Chauhan teamed up with Abhishek Verma and Aman Saini as the Indian men's compound team won the bronze by defeating Russia in the playoffs at Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya, Turkey.
Deepika Kumari
Deepika struck gold and secured an Olympic quota for India in the women's individual recurve event at the Continental Qualification Tournament (Asian Championships) in Bangkok in November 2019. Deepika put up a flawless show to defeat Nur Afisa Abdul Halil of Malaysia 7-2, Zahra Nemati (Iran) 6-4 and local girl Narisara Khunhiranchaiyo 6-2 to make the last four, thereby securing an Olympic quota. In July 2019, Deepika settled for a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games test even tafter going down to 18-year-old Korean An San in straight sets.
