Jaspal Rana
has been named the coach of the year at the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2019, powered by BHIM-UPI. MC Mary Kom's coach Chhote Lal Yadav and Yogeshwar Dutt who trains Bajrang Punia were also in the reckoning but the esteemed TOISA jury comprising Gautam Gambhir, Bhaichung Bhutia, Zafar Iqbal, Ashwini Nachappa, Devendra Jhajharia and Rajesh Kalra, Chief Editor of Times Internet Ltd gave their nod to Rana considering his wards' tons of medals in 2019.

In February 2019, Manu won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at 2019 ISSF World Cup in Delhi. In May 2019, Bhaker qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 10m pistol event via a fourth place finish at the Munich ISSF World Cup.
In all the four Pistol & Rifle ISSF World Cups in 2019, Bhaker won the Gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed event with Saurabh Chaudhry as her partner, making the pair a strong contender for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Bhaker, who also won gold at the Asian Shooting Championships in Doha, ended the year on a high by claiming gold medals in the individual and team events at the ISSF World Cup Final in Putian, China.
In February 2019, Saurabh won the gold medal at ISSF World Cup in Delhi. In May, he won gold and broke the world and junior records in 10m pistol ISSF World Cup in Munich. The young sensation won two silver medals at the Asian Shooting Championships in Doha before ending the year by clinching a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in Putian.
