Kalburgi murder: SIT team questions Hampi Varsity staff

BANGALORE: The special investigation team probing into the murder of renowned Kannada scholar and former vice-chancellor of Kannada University in Hampi has commenced wuestioning several staff members of the university.
Sources in SIT said that many of the staff including personal driver of the slain scholar were also questioned to get some clues into the mysterious killing.

The scholar kalburgi was shot and killed in his Dharwad home on August 30 morning by unidentified persons who shot him frm point blank range using a 319 pistol.
The present vice chancellor of theHampi University Dr Mallika Ganti told TOI that many of the staff including a close associate of Prof Kalburgi, Prof SS Angadi were questioned by the SIT team. Kalburgi was serving the Kannada University between 1998 and 2001 and those who were with him during his tenure were asked several questions to find out whether they had suspected anyone hands in the murder, said one of the staff at Hampi Kannada University.
Superintendent of police (criminal investigation department) DC Rajappa said this was part of the SIT's investigation into the incident. "We are yet to get any break through in the case as we are asking people who were associated with the slaim scholar. That is all. Nobody was taken into custody or we have no suspects in .our custody," the SP said.
A CID source said that the investigating team is trying to find out some clue from questioning people who were once associated with the Kannada scholar.
